Babywearing Babywearing is the practice of carrying your baby in a baby carrier. In essence, you are "wearing your baby." This idea isn't new. In fact, native peoples from around the world have been babywearing for hundreds of years. In those cases, the babywearing may have been done out of neccessity. Babywearing does allow the parent to have two free hands to do other things. Babywearing also benefits the body of the babywearer because a baby carrier will distribute the baby's weight. Oftentimes, parents who carry their children for long periods of time, get back aches, shoulder aches and neck aches. Babywearing alleviates this. Another benefit of babywearing, is having a calmer and happier baby. Babies who are worn tend to feel more secure and bonded to their parents. Parents who babywear also tend to feel more bonded to their children.
